Meiosis Slideshow - Sayra

Meiosis Slideshow

Meiosis Demonstration- Jenny

*the blog would not allow me to make a video, so I had to make it like this.

This is the beginning of Meiosis. This is PROPHASE 1. This is the process when the membrane dissolves and the chromosomes are starting to move towards each other.

This is when the chromosomes come together and form tetrads.
This is after the tetrads are formed, and sometimes the chromosomes switch pieces of chromatids.
This is METAPHASE 1. Metaphase 1 is the process when spindle fibers attach themselves to the chromosomes that have lined up.
This is ANAPHASE 1. This is when the chromosomes are pulled apart and separated into two daughter cells. These cells are identical.
These chromosomes then line up to be split up again.
The end of Meiosis results in the four identical daughter cells.

Osmosis Demonstration-Sayra

Osmosis Demonstration on a Potato

Osmosis Demonstration-Jenny

Below is the video that I used to demonstrate Osmosis. On the left is a raisin, and on the right is a dried cranberry. Although it is difficult to tell, the two foods are expanding. This is happening because water is gradually seeping into the food's cells. The cells have a membrane that allow water to pass, and as a result, the cells expand and burst. Our foods do not burst like some do, but they do slowly expand.
(I apologize for the bad quality, but the two foods are in fact expanding).
